Jamaican Spirit Tour

Hey World! ^_^

I made my way to Saint Elizabeth for the Joy Spence Appleton Estate Rum Tour recently. The tours run Monday to Saturday starting at 9:00am with the last tour at 3:00pm daily.

One thing I've learned about St Elizabeth is that the parish's evening-nightlife is really lacking. If you plan on visiting the parish, start out early so you can be in the parish by 9:00am so you may visit another destination or two. By 3:00pm they start to wind down and all the adventure spots close their doors by 4:00pm, which really kinda sucks.

On my way back home, I stopped by Murray's Fish & Jerk Hut and had a cup of Mannish Water aka Goat Head Soup (which was lacking because it was really hot salt water -___-) and Jerk Chicken with Festivals

Check out the Appleton Rum Tour when next you visit the island or make a road trip to St. Elizabeth with good friends / family. The rum flowed, the tour guide was engaging and the vibe of the tour was right. What can I say but I awakened my spirit on this tour.
Go experience the tour for yourself and tell me what you think about it.

Jerk Pork Redux

Hey World! ^_^

So i had a Boneless Jerk Pork served with Creamed Sweet Potato and Garlic Greens courtesy of the Grog Shoppe Restaurant at Devon House (Kingston, Jamaica). The Jerk Pork was so flavourful and tender; this redux was DIVINE!!!!

Soul Food

Hey World!:)

Did you know that chicken liver is actually good for you?

Chicken livers are high in protein and a rich store of folate, which is important for fertility and helps prevent certain birth defects. Livers are also loaded with iron to give you energy and a treasure trove of certain B vitamins, most notably B12. This nutritional profile makes them a good choice for anyone prone to anaemia. Chicken livers are also one of the top sources of vitamin A, which helps eye health.

Lol i guess i say all that just so i can show you my brekkie! Twas gooooooooood!!! I'm not a fan of boiled banana (or fig as some call it) but once i have a lil callaloo to put with it, i can consume it.

Stush Gyal Dukunu

Hey World! :)

Just wanted to show you some Dukunu i made the other day. Some folks from church laughed at me so hard when i shared with them, that i make Dukunu in foil ^_^. Maybe one day i'll try the banana leaf version but for now 'just pass mi ma foil paper'. This really should be a recipe everyone knows, especially those among us having it hard to provide for their children because it can really "stop gap" (fill you up when you are hungry). You know what, I think i'll post the recipe soon.

Upgrade My Patty

Hey World! :)

Just another day when i decide to disobey etiquette and take pics of the food i eat. After class on Saturday, i had a few errands to run before heading home and i had skipped out on breakfast, so i was starving at this point. Since i had a marathon to "run" (honestly i can't run, i was gonna walk) i wanted something healthy to eat even though i really wanted Popeyes. Before you tell me this isn't healthy, just stop because this is healthy for me! Can't you spot all that vegetable? ^_^

So i decided to try out the Full House Patty at Mothers "The Great Jamaican Patty Company" which is basically a beef patty with cheese, lettuce and tomato. I added bacon to mine just to make sure i enjoyed it.

I was skeptical at first but i enjoyed it. This patty was both delicious and filling.

So if if you are in the mood to have a cheese patty, just upgrade it and go all the way!
